1. I Saw Her Standing There (Lennon/McCartney) 2:54

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regular RM Take 9 & 12 11 Feb 1963 SS.PPM.01.09/12.RM Used for mono LP & CD "Please Please Me". Also found on mono US "Introducing The Beatles" (Brennan) but missing the count-in (only the "4" remains). It is not sure if the version found on "Introducing .." is the UK mono mix or the UK stereo mix reduced to mono. According to Brennan (again), if it was a reduction from the stereo mix we would hear the volume dropout on verse 3 that is typical on the UK stereo mix.

2. Misery (Lennon/McCartney) 1:50

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regular RM Take 16 11 Feb 1963 SS.PPM.02.16.RM The Beatles Available on "Please Please Me" mono LP/CD. On 20 Feb 1963, George Martin overdubbed 5 piano takes onto take 11. The last and best being take 16.

Released on: UK: Parlophone PMC 1202 Please Please Me 1963. CD: EMI CDP 7 46435 2 Please Please Me 1987.

According to Brennan: Whether Vee Jay uses [this UK mono mix] or is just a mono reduction of [UK stereo mix] seems impossible to determine by listening, since an unedited mono mix would sound the same. It's been suggested that the entire Vee Jay LP is a mono reduction of the stereo mixes (except that the real mono "Please please me" was used for the reissue version of the LP), and it is hard to rule this out, although it's also hard to say why Vee Jay would not have been sent both mono and stereo masters.

Tilleul: for now, and until I have further proofs, we'll consider this version to appear on Vee Jay.

US: Vee Jay VJLP 1062 Introducing 1963.
