Beatles (3/Cd) Please Please Me The Alternate Album Collection

The Beatles’ memorable first album “Please Please Me” was released in March 1963 in the UK. All 14 songs including the debut single “Love Me Do / P.S. I Love You” and the second single “Please Please Me / Ask Me Why” in 1962 were recorded live in the studio. A session was held and the recording was completed in one day. In 1963, as was customary at the time, the monaural version was released, and the stereo version was released the following month. The earliest press is commonly known as “Gold Parlophone” with the label printed in gold letters on a black background, and it is a target of mania as a high-quality sound board. It peaked at number one on the UK album chart, and has been at number one for 30 consecutive weeks until its second album is released. This “Please Please Me / Alternate Album Collection” includes the latest “remixes” of all the album songs, “sessions” based on unreleased studio outtakes, and “versions” that summarize various mix differences. A total of 107 tracks in a 3-CD set divided into each concept are recorded.

DISC1 : THE ALTERNATE ALBUM : REMIX / MULTITRACK DEMIX As a literal “alternate album”, all 14 songs recorded in the original album are recorded in 2 different remix 2 versions by the latest editing. The 14 songs in the first half reproduce all songs of the album with the latest stereo remix. In the 1960s, monaural was the mainstream, and the original stereo that was produced later was a simple mix in which the vocals and performances were divided into left and right. For the first time, it has been made into a CD with a stereo that conforms to the original. In this latest stereo remix, unlike the old stereo, the vocal is the center and the performance is distributed to the left and right, making it a sound image without unnaturalness. In recent years, there have been many such stereo remixes, including fan-made ones, and there are so-called “spectral stereo” sound sources in circulation, but here the vocals and instruments are more directly highlighted than those sound sources. It has become a finish closer to the original sound. In terms of sound quality, it is a mix that reproduces the power of the original mono with the fresh sound quality engraved on the first edition of the collector’s sanctuary “Gold Parlophone”, which is known as the highest peak in sound quality. And the 14 songs in the second half include “MULTITACKS DEMIX” which is different from the first half. Based on the multi-track separated by the topical demixing technology in the sound source analysis by AI, it is reconstructed into a modern stereo remix as in the first half. In the remix here, the separation of vocals and instruments is further subdivided, and even the chorus part is splendidly separated, making it a mix full of wide stereo feeling different from the first half. If you listen with headphones and compare, you will be able to understand the difference in stereo separation more clearly. Furthermore, it is the latest stereo remix that is attracting attention as a comparison with the original sound source and many existing sound sources.

DISC2 : THE ALTERNATE SESSIONS Includes studio session sound sources that follow the production process of the album in almost the order of recording at that time. The existing session sound sources that have not been recorded in the published sound sources and those that have been released so far are recorded together. A take that partially overlaps with the published sound source is also an original edited sound source with different edits and mixes. Except for the first four songs, the takes recorded at the “Legendary One Day Session” held on February 11, 1963 have been familiar with “Ultra Rare Trax” and “Unsurpassed Masters” in the past. Compared to the source, the sound quality is improved, of course, some of the sound sources that were monaural have been converted to stereo using AI technology, and all songs are recorded with the latest updated sound source. It is the latest definitive version of the “legendary one-day session” that recorded the fresh performance full of momentum at the time of debut.

DISC3: THE ALTERNATE VERSIONS Various version differences and mix differences of songs recorded in the album are recorded together. “Love Me Do/P.S. I Love You” and “Please Please Me/Ask Me Why”, which are different from the album recording, are recorded as direct copies from the original UK single. Different version differences such as the Capitol edited mix recorded only on the American edition, the sound source for “Sessions” that was unreleased in the 80’s, and the mix for the anthology project produced in 1995 are summarized. In addition, the ROCKBAND version, which has attracted attention as a multi-track sound source, is also recorded with a unique stereo remix that is different from the sound sources that have been on the market so far. In addition, 9 songs after track 25 “Love Me Do (Early Take)” are recorded in stereo remix using AI technology from the original monaural sound source. It is a high-quality stereo version with excellent demixing effect that separates vocals and instruments.
