The King Biscuit Flower Hour (a US radio show) recorded this concert on 27 February 1976 at Long Beach Arena, California. The last three (bonus) tracks were recorded in Springfield, MA on January 26 1976. The US/Canadian release was titled "King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents: Deep Purple In Concert" (KBFH Records/EMI Canada 70710-88002-2-7) and was released in July 1995 on 2 CD's. There are at least two different covers of this in circulation. Moreover the European & US releases have different packages, track lists & titles as well. The UK and European edition was titled "On the Wings of a Russian Foxbat (Live in California 1976)" (Connoisseur Collection DPVSOP-CD-217) and was also released in July 1995 on 2 CD'S. There also was a Japanese release in the late 90's (Teichiku TECX-35042-3). Another Japanese edition popped up in June 2003 "Live in California Long Beach Arena 1976" (VAP Purple VPCK 85327), which was re-released in remastered quality in 2008 (Victor VICP-64320~1). Another collectable item: "On the wings..." (Purple Records PUR 356) UK 2009, different artwork (again!), first released in Digipak, later in Jewelcase.
